Filmmaker and rhetorical scholar, Dr. Pablo Correa, presents his work on creating digital memorials for civil rights icons Emmett Till and Fannie Lou Hamer. He will discuss the Emmett Till Memory App created to preserve the memory of 14 year old Emmett Till who was murdered in 1955 and comes in the wake of controversy as the physical site marker in Mississippi is the ongoing target of vandalism. He will also discuss the Fannie Lou Hamer’s America project website which includes a documentary film, K-12 curriculum, and a youth filmmakers workshop in honor of activist Fannie Lou Hamer. Come learn about the effort to create digital memorials to withstand the threat of racism and time.
